Hose Manufacturer Wins $242,000 In Trade Secret Lawsuit

Berg-Nelson, a Long Beach company, has won a $242,000 against Advanced Sealing and Supply Co. The lawsuit alleged that Advanced Sealing had stolen trade secrets relating to a fuel injection hose manufactured by both companies.

According to the lawsuit, the company’s hose was specifically designed and made for special units at a Chevron refinery. The suit alleges that employees at the Chevron refinery provided the hose to Advanced Sealing so they could mimic the design. This allowed Advanced Sealing to design the product without having to go through the time and expense of developing it on its own.

Chevron was originally included in the lawsuit, but settled prior to trial.
