Starwood Files Trade Secrets Suit Against Hilton

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Starwood Hotels has filed a lawsuit against Hilton Hotels alleging that Hilton stole trade secrets to advance its launch of a luxury chain to rival Starwoods.

Specifically, the suit alleges that Hilton stole more than 100,000 files containing trade secrets on Starwood’s own luxury chains, St. Regis, W Hotels, and Luxury Collection.

Hilton has responded by saying that the lawsuit “is without merit an will vigorously defend itself.” In addition, Hilton is planning on continuing to proceed with its plans.

The lawsuit has named Hilton, as well as two former Starwood who now work at Hilton as the defendants in the case.
